Floral tones
Pink may be clichéd but this season it’s back with a new gusto – and it’s cropping up on our lids. While pink is often a reliable fallback shade for lips and cheeks, it can be hard to nail on eyelids. Here’s how to get the look just right:
- Start with a layer of concealer to get rid of any redness or darkness. We love Inika Natural Perfection Concealer for its light-reflecting certified organic mineral formulation.
- Build up the colour so it makes a rich statement – looking like you’ve had no sleep or you’ve been crying is not ideal. Try Inika Eye Shadow in Lychee and Pink Fetish.
- When using pink shades on lids always anchor the colour with black eyeliner such as Inika Mineral Eyeliner in Black Caviar and a few coats of thickening mascara. Try 100% natural versions such as Suvana Bio Lash in Cleopatra or Inika Mineral Mascara in Black.
- Even out the rest of your complexion with a redness-busting mineral foundation such as Inika Mineral Foundation and keep lips pale and pretty (try Suvana Bio Gloss in Blossom)
- Want to keep your look more low-key? Add pink to your cheeks instead (we can’t get enough of Inika Mineral Blush in Pink Pinch). For a cute springtime look, dust the remaining blush on your blush brush across your nose and forehead. Sweet.
Pretty pouts
Lips are making a bold statement this season so don’t be afraid to experiment with vivid reds and pinks. Here’s how to standout for all the right reasons:
- Lips need to be prepped if they’re going to get so much attention so make sure they’re buffed before you attempt bold colour. A face exfoliator is a great way to get lips smooth – try granulated, certified organic formula Miessence Garnet Exfoliant to create a perfect lip canvas.
- Look for creamy lipsticks that give lips a lush look without being overly shiny. If you want red, try Inika Mineral Lipstick in Electric Red or even the more subtle Rose Bud if you’re thinking pink.
- Careful application is key. Use a concealer around the outline of your lips to prevent feathering (try Inika Natural Perfection Concealer) then use a lip brush (Inika Professional Brush Roll has a great one) to paint on the colour perfectly. A dusting of translucent powder such as Inika Setting Powder between coats of lippie will help keep colour strong for longer.
